NEA FLOGITA The village was built at the sea, after the disaster in Asia Minor by refugees from Floita in the province of Nigdi.Today it has 1.400 inhabitants and during summer the facilities of the village allow the accommodation at 10.000 tourists.The patron saint of N.Flogita is St. George, whose church is in the centre of the village and is decorated with frescoes.One kilometre away, there is the country church of St. Panteleimonas as well as the ruins of the old hospital which was burnt by Bulgarians during the German occupation.The most important characteristic of the      village is its very clean sandy beach which is 1.5 kilometres long and 100 metres wide. The sea gradually becomes deeper and its bottom is sandy. A reef, in a distance of 50 metres from the coast is a natural protection for the swimmers. During summer months cafeterias, pubs, tavernas and a cinema are open. There is also a football ground and a basketball court.
Local celebrations
- A feast on the names day of the patron Saint, St. George
- Carnival celebrations on the last Sunday of Carnival with a parade of chariots and disguised people and after that the distribution of free wine and sweets

Overland transport

NEA MOUDANIA It is a Municipality with approximately 6.000 inhabitants. It was built in 1922 after the disaster in Asia Minor by refugees coming mainly from Moudania of Asia Minor. The place was uninhabited and swampy before their setting.The only house was the lodging of the keeper of the farm Eleonas, which is, today, dilapidatedbut preserved.Moudania has one of the largest productions of "gavros" (a sort of sardin) in the Mediterranean (more than 20.000 tons yearly). The harbour of Moudania is functioning as an assistant harbour to that of Thessaloniki and big cargo ships dock there even though it is now under enlargement. Moudania has nice beaches and clear waters and in the town you can find a number of shops that satisfy even the most  demanding customer.At the disposal of the tourist there are also a football ground, a mini-golf course and a tennis court.

The first 10 days of July: Cultural manifestations which end with the very famous "Feast of the Sardin". 8th September, Feast of the Virgin Mary of  Korfini, at the church which is situated on a hill at the outskirts of the town.

Sightseeing
- "Zographou" Tower:  The Byzantine tower (14th cent.), the church (1842) and other structures (19th cent.) belonging to the "metochi" still exist today. Of particular interest is the fountain of the "metochi", built in 1853, about 50m west of the tower.
- "Metochi" of Aghios Panteleimon:  The ruins of the "metochi" are found near the village of Nea Flogita. It was built during the second half of the 19th century and is directly related to the refugees of the entire Kalamaria area, because for many years after 1922, this is where the American hospital for refugees was organised and operated.
Overland Transport
To and from Thessaloniki daily, and every hour. Distance 60 Km (Duration of the trip 1 hour). 3 buses per day to Poligiros which is 28 Km away.
