STAGIRA
This is the town where the philosopher and teacher of Alexander the Great, Aristotle was born. The village is built on the foot of the hill Argirolofos and has approximately 500 inhabitants, but along with the neighbouring village Stratoniki(the two villages have almost become one) the number of the population increases to 1500. In beautiful and panoramic park of about 15 acres, to the west of the village and on the road to Thessaloniki and Athos, is the statue of the philosopher Aristotle and several ancient towers and buildings of the "Iron burning", that is the processing of iron. The remarkable archaeological site and the park with the statue are flooded by tourists, coming from different places every day. The central church is monument built in 1814 with an excellent architecture.

8th September: Birth of the Virgin. Feast at the church in the archaeological site to the west of the village.

OLYMPIADA
 It is a village built in 1924-25 by refugees from Agia Kiriaki in Asia Minor. Because of ancient Stagira the area can be considered as the most important historical site of Chalkidiki. Stagira was the home town of the great philosopher Aristotle. It is located 1 kilometre to the east of  Olympiada on a peninsula called Liotomi. Tradition says that Olympiada was named after king Alexander+AJI-s mother, Olympiada, who was exiled by king Kassandros to the island of Kapros, opposite the village. Olympiada is built at the side of a natural harbour. It is surrounded by a lot of magnificent beaches, green mountains and forests. It is ideal for holidays all year, especially in spring and in summer. Archaeological excavations started at the area of ancient Stagira in 1990 and have been going on since then. A lot of Classical and Byzantine findings(walls-pots-coins etc.) are on show at an exhibition area of Olympiada.
Other sights: Kapros island- old remains of minerals- A basilica at Zepko.

Local celebrations
On the 6th and 7th of July during the festivities dedicated to the patron Saint Agia Kiriaki- cultural manifestations under the general title "Aristotelia". They include:
July 6: A tour on the location of ancient Stagira. Speeches about the ancient city, and the life and works of the great philosopher, Aristotle.
July 7: Music and dancing, bands playing traditional music at the village square and offering of sea food(sardines- mussels- wine)
During these two days several athletic games take place.

Olympiada is served by buses, six times a day in summer and 3 times in winter.(The duration of the trip is 1 hour and a half).
